Day 1: The Blessing of Confidence (1 of 4)

ROMANS 8:28

  • Circle “we know”.
  • Hi-lite “all things work together for good”
  • Underline “those who love God” and “those who are called”

Can have confidence even when things don’t look good at that moment?

What is your perspective on problems and trials?

Do you dwell on (worry about) the trial itself and let it affect other aspects of your life?

Or – do you tell God about it, how you feel about it, ask God for relief?

Do you feel like you have to solve the problem yourself?

Or – do you realize that after you have done what you can to alleviate, fix, or remedy it, ultimately, God is in control?

PERSPECTIVE

Knowing we will be tested

1 Peter 1:7

  • Hi-lite “genuineness of your faith”, “more precious than gold“, tested by fire”
  • Underline “may be found to praise, honor, and glory”

Our physical selves

2 Corinthians 4:16-17

Notice the word “therefore” – you always want to look and see what it is there for! Usually it refers back to the previous verse, but in this case it refers to verse 11 “that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our body”…

  • Put a box around the phrases “do not lose heart” and “but for a moment”
  • Notice the contrast of the outward and inward man.
  • HI-lite “outward” and “perishing”.  Draw an arrow connecting the two.
  • Hi-lite with another color “inward” and “renewed” Draw an arrow connecting the two.
  • Underline the contrast of “light affliction” and “weight of glory”

With God’s Help

Psalm 46:1-2

  • Hi-lite the things “God is” in verse 1:  “refuge”, “strength”, and “present help”
  • Circle “therefore” – notice what it is there for (because God is… we will not fear)
  • Put a box around “we will not fear”.

Day 2 will continue this study of Confidence.
